I was introduced to Wendy through tennis. She was a competitive player and enjoyed several sports such as sailing, skiing, cycling and cars. Another interest was gardening.
As our circle of tennis players diminished our friendship became closer and we had a regular doubles with Meg and Kathe on a Tuesday morning on my court. Even when the weather was poor the ladies came for coffee and a chat. Wendy had a determined personality and even with failing health refused to succumb to her ailments. She still tried to play a little gentle tennis this year.
Despite being diagnosed with a heart problem, Wendy’s went to the Alsace for a week’s cycling adventure, I believe in aide of charity.
We frequently had telephone chats discussing our activities and always found something to laugh about. Our favourite topic was our love of skiing.
She told me how fortunate she was to be living in Normandy Gardens with such friendly neighbours taking care of each other.
Wendy was a confidante and friend, and I sorely miss her.
